St. Paul's College

The College- Richmond Road rebuild is complete

Our Richmond Road block rebuild is  complete. The offical openingtook place on 13 August 2011.

St Paul’s College, a Catholic school for boys years 7 to 13 (forms 1 to 7), was founded in 1903. It was named after the apostle Paul, one of Jesus Christ’s greatest and bravest apostles. In 1955 part of the school was transferred to a site out in Glen Innes, and renamed Sacred Heart College.

St Paul’s College in its current form started in 1955. In 2005 St Paul’s College celebrated in spectacular fashion its 50th Jubilee.

The school, founded by the Marist Brothers’ has remained true to its mission, and the Marist Charism, since its founding. Saint Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers, regarded service to the poor and needy as his primary mission. St Paul’s College has always made this its main focus. While the school’s students are drawn from a diverse cross section of the community, the College strives always to serve the needy, often first generation immigrants to our country.

We are proud of our diverse, multicultural backgrounds, as well as our strong emphasis on Catholic, Christian life.

The College aims to provide our students with a strong well rounded education, emphasizing academic achievement and leadership. We have a strong extra curricular programme and St Paul’s College sports teams rank among the best in the country. The College is proud to have such hard working, talented and loyal staff, who go out of their way to ensure students develop to their fullest potential. The school is led by a strong, dedicated Principal, supported by a hardworking senior management team, and staff.

The College is also extremely proud of its distinguished Alumni. The school has educated a future Prime Minister of Samoa, Tongan nobility, prominent Fijian leaders, successful New Zealand businessmen, and leaders in all professions. We are also extremely proud of the phenomenally successful sports men that have come from our school, the most recent including Stacey Jones, Rodney Blake, and Rodney Ardern. See our Alumni page for more details.

The College is also proud of its strong and positive links to the Marist Brothers, who continue to have a real, and valued presence in the life of the school. The school is proud to have the Marist Brothers’ Community on site, and the Marist Brothers as the Proprietors provide guidance and leadership for the College as it moves forward.

College Motto - “ Confortare Esto Vir”

This is our College motto, which translated into English is, “take courage , be strong”

We live by this motto every day, and generations of students have left St Paul’s with this philosophy instilled into them. We challenge our students to be courageous, fearless individuals, who stand up for what is right, and strive always to improve themselves, their families and their communities. We believe they can achieve this through hard work, dedication and service, but most importantly, a deep respect for the teachings and example of Christ.
